School Shopping

On Friday Owen and I met my mom in Topeka to shop for his school supplies and some fall clothes.  It was a fun day--we brought home a LOT of stuff for both boys.  They weren't in the fashion show mode, so I'll try to get more pics up later.  The funniest part of the day was Owen picking what he wanted for lunch.  We offered all types of restaurants and he insisted on a big pretzel.  At least his lunch was cheap! :)
New Pumas--love them!  Wait till you see the other ones he suckered Grandma Jean into.
All of Miles new stuff is a little long....
Trying on some new pants/shirt.
New jackets from my mom.  I love the old school look and I feel like I'm back in Papillion!!

Riley County Fair

The boys and I hit the fair for a while on Thursday night (opening night).  They had fun riding the "safe" stuff.  Owen was scared to go down the big slide last year, but was excited to do it this year.  Still no ferris wheel.  We've been busy this weekend and haven't made it over to see the animals.

Mac Love

We spent most of Friday in KC (on our way to the lake) and hit up the Apple store in Leewood. Our home computer has had some unresolved "issues" so we figured we were due for a new one and opted for a desktop this time--a BIG desktop.  I love it, but it forced me to clear everything else off the table.
Owen figured out to play the Star Wars Legos computer game which meant one less kid to worry about destroying the store.
Size comparison.  We are still going to keep the other one.  Hopefully I can get it serviced at the Apple store in Omaha next week--we haven't had a lot of luck in town.

One More Pic

I wanted to try out this Polaroid function, so here's one more picture from the lake.

Love's Lakehouse

We had a great time with Quint and Susan (and Sharla and family) this weekend at the lake. The weather was fantastic and the time went too quickly.
Both kids loved the slide that dumped them into the lake.
Quint and Susan showing the boys the boat and jet skis.
Miles found these glasses for us.
The boys really liked riding on the jet skis (me too).
These two dogs lived somewhere nearby and spent most of Saturday with us.  "Goldie" and "Choca" couldn't get enough of fetching sticks from the lake.
Saturday evening we headed to Frankie and Louie's.  It worked out great.  We met up with Sharla and fam and the kids played in the water and sand, then we ate and listened to the band for a while.
My family with Sharla's.
Us with Quint and Susan (note to self:  only front facing pictures in this dress to avoid pregnant looking pictures).

Gotta Love Harry Potter

Ellen K. took me to Harry Potter with her last night--full house, glad we had some seats saved. If you are a HP fan, I hope you like it as much as I did (although there were a few parts that differed from the book).
A couple of weeks ago, I also saw "The Proposal." Good romantic comedy--my favorite genre. This makes 4 movies for me this summer. Might as well keep on the roll....coming up "The Ugly Truth" (with Katherine Heigl), "Fame" (I know you are singing right now), "New Moon" (need to watch "Twilight" first though) . . . .

Mario Kart

Owen is loving his new Mario Kart game (b-day gift from Aunt Nancy). He is really good and I suck--12th place both times I've played.

Hey Tooth Fairy!

The tooth fairy made his (her?) first visit to our house this weekend. Owen lost his first tooth Friday night. The new one is already starting to come in. He was very proud!
And this is the innocent little guy who pulled it out. He liked to wiggle the loose tooth, but obviously didn't know how aggressive his wiggling was. He pulled it out in the back of the car on the way home from the pool. I guess that's better than Owen eating the tooth with his food, which is what he was worried about.

Target Trap!

As we were delivering some cheer stuff this week, I convinced the kids that Target would be a much better place to get milk (which was actually needed), even though Dillon's, Ray's and of course, Dara's were much closer! I wasn't planning to buy anything--just look around, right?
I had almost bought these (for Owen) a while back, but he didn't really need them, but when they are $6 . . .
Then 4 notebooks that were red so I thought I could make something Manhattan-Highish???
New polish, how about 3? They were both the last color left in a new supply, so they must be popular and I should buy them immediately??
Definitely not needed considering how many shoes I've brought home this summer, but I love black shoes and again, only $6. . .
And then when I was really weak, I bought these elf boots. Verdict is still out--fun or hideous?
If you are wondering, yes, I did remember milk. Usually I forget the one necessary item in times like this.

Golf Ends

Owen finished up golf on Thursday (this is on Wednesday when they got out on the course) which marks the end of our "official committments" --unless we do July swim lessons I suppose. He had fun and learned a lot. Now he's ready to hit the course with Dad, which means I will have to play with Miles and try to keep him from destroying more plastic clubs.

Thanks Jana!

On Wednesday my friend Jana came to town to visit. It worked out well--she helped me with all of the kids at the pool AND we got to catch up on school stuff, cheer, running . . . now she's off to Disney and I'm off to . . . clean? laundry?
