Fall 2015

Some highlights from fall 2015...
Owen started 7th grade and played tackle football for the first time.  He loved playing (outside linebacker and wide receiver) and did a great job--and didn't get hurt.  I believe his team's record was 5-2.  The games start at 3:30 which sometimes made them difficult to get to.  Both sets of grandparents were able to see at least one game.

Miles had a run in with a neighbor's mailbox and had to get his first stitches.

Kelsie Funk made Graham a belated cake--rainbow layers, fancy frosting, candy, etc.  He really wanted a cake for his birthday, and since we were busy with baseball during his actual birthday, he had to wait until August.
Owen's baseball team played a little fall baseball.  I think they won this tournament??
Graham started Kindergarten this year.  He loves everything about school, especially his teacher!  He has weekly homework to complete by Friday.
Adam went to battle with some field mice that wanted to make this window well their home.  In the end Adam won out (with the assistance of some poison and a golf club).
We enjoyed the KSU vs. TCU football game--complete with friends and unlimited food!
This is the only picture I have of Owen playing football--he's #7.
Miles participated in flag football again this year.  He had three young, fun coaches that were great.

Miles participating in "Neon Day" at school.
Miles with Logan Funk at the 4th grade music program.  They were supposed to wear white shirts and jeans  He picked his own white shirt in case you were wondering.

Cool Pool

We met up with friends last week at Northview Pool.  It was just recently renovated, and the kids thought it was wonderful.  I really liked the layout--one big pool with various different features in different areas.  Miles was a little too short for all but the green "family" slide, but he did go down it about 100 times. Definitely looking forward to attending an upcoming birthday party here!

Fish

We've pretty much been swimming every day this summer.  All three boys love the water--it doesn't matter if it's a fancy water park or cement hole with water.  They've taken a few private lessons to work on their strokes.  Both Owen and Miles have become strong swimmers for their ages.  Owen has free range of the pool, and Miles needs only minimal supervision.  We have an underwater video camera that we finally tried out the other day.  Here's a little footage taken from 10 feet under.

Princess and the Frog

Grandma Rosie, Grandpa Mike, and Aunt Emily were here this past weekend. While Adam and I shopped for Christmas, Grandma and Auntie Em took the kids to "Princess and the Frog." They all said it was good, although I'm not sure how focused Miles was. Rosie had to tell him that the movie theater only allowed two bathroom breaks :)

Omaha Trip

Last Sunday the boys and I headed to Omaha for a few days to visit our old stomping ground. As usual the time went WAY TOO FAST and I was sad to leave.
Papio after the renovations.  Unfortunately, we never got around to checking out the inside.
What we thought we be an 1-2 hour lunch turned into a nearly 5 hour lunch.  Good thing Red Robin isn't the most popular place in the area or we probably would have gotten kicked out. Can you guys all move to Manhattan and teach with me here?
The kids and I camped in Lori's basement.  I came downstairs one night to find them sleeping side by side despite the huge sectional and air mattress.  Later Owen told me that Miles came to lay by him because he was scared that I wasn't there.  How sweet.
Should have put this picture last--two tired boys coming home.
I love to French braid and Olivia is my guinea pig.
Miles and Owen got purple sweatbands for their birthdays from the Boudreau's.
Not exactly pool weather, but great park weather.
Ben enjoyed having Miles follow him around.
Owen got to take tennis lessons with Lori and John.  I kept the five kids during the later lesson. They were hungry and the close Pizza Hut moved, so we crossed the street and took advantage of Applebee's "stoller-side" service.

School Shopping

On Friday Owen and I met my mom in Topeka to shop for his school supplies and some fall clothes.  It was a fun day--we brought home a LOT of stuff for both boys.  They weren't in the fashion show mode, so I'll try to get more pics up later.  The funniest part of the day was Owen picking what he wanted for lunch.  We offered all types of restaurants and he insisted on a big pretzel.  At least his lunch was cheap! :)
New Pumas--love them!  Wait till you see the other ones he suckered Grandma Jean into.
All of Miles new stuff is a little long....
Trying on some new pants/shirt.
New jackets from my mom.  I love the old school look and I feel like I'm back in Papillion!!

Riley County Fair

The boys and I hit the fair for a while on Thursday night (opening night).  They had fun riding the "safe" stuff.  Owen was scared to go down the big slide last year, but was excited to do it this year.  Still no ferris wheel.  We've been busy this weekend and haven't made it over to see the animals.

One More Pic

I wanted to try out this Polaroid function, so here's one more picture from the lake.

New Ride

We (I) bought this motorized gator from a friend of a friend. The sellers live just a few streets down, so the boys got to drive it home. We don't really have room for it in our garage, but I couldn't pass up the great deal. So far, they (and the neighbor boy) are loving it.

Night at the Museum

These are the last pics taken last week (nothing much from this week since I've been in class all day every day). I took the boys to see Night at the Museum 2. They really enjoyed it--first movie theater experience for Miles, he fell asleep for some of it. Owen and Grant cracked up when there was some kissing and kept quoting the "Boom, boom, fire power!" part.
Fire Power!

Lakeside

The kids love to go out to the lake on the weekends and pick up sticks, throw rocks to see if they will break the ice, etc.  We bundled up on Sunday and checked it out.  Personally, I'd rather be on a WARM beach than this one....
