My First Marathon

I ran my first marathon on Sunday in Oklahoma City.  I've been strictly following a training schedule since the beginning of January and I was a little nervous about how it would go. Despite very WINDY and warm conditions, I finished it in much less time than I thought I would.  It was a great experience--the course was neat with lots of people cheering.  Now that it's over, I feel like I've lost my job or something because I don't have a big chunk of time taken up with runs. I thought I'd be so relieved to be done, but it's such a good feeling to be in great shape and I have to wonder if I'd be faster next time . . . we'll see!
Finish line!
I'm the third one back.
Notice I am passing a guy!
The kids thought my medal was cool.
Think Adam would run one with me??  Ha.

OKC Trip

Adam and I took the kids to Oklahoma City for my marathon this past weekend.  It was nice to go away for the weekend with the kids.  I can't remember the last time we went anywhere as a family that wasn't for a wedding/party/holiday/etc.  It seemed like we were a lot further from Manhattan than we really were.
Here we come!
The kids outside the Memorial Museum.
The hotel pool was sooo cold, so we settled for swimming in the hot tub.  The jets weren't working so it was just right for swimming.

The 168 chairs that symbolize the lives lost in the bombing.  The structure in the back is the base of he old federal building.
The kids enjoyed hanging out in the hotel.  A little Sonic and a movie, what could be better?

Pet Peek

Katie Harvey, our baby-sitter and soon-to-be KSU vet student has started her own pet-sitting business.  When we were in Oklahoma this weekend she stayed with Edie and Newman.  She has a blog set up for owners to see what is going on with their "fur" children while they are gone.  We measure how good the dogs' weekends are by how tired they are on Sunday night and Monday, and they are out of it!  If you need a pet sitter in Manhattan (or Omaha this summer), call Katie!

KSU Goods

My friend Jenn brought me to the "friends and family" sale at GTM.  Apparently they were way over-stocked or something, because they were selling all of the good Nike stuff--CHEAP!  $50 Nike pants for $10.  If I'd had more time to think or call people, I'd have bought more; not to mention Miles kept leaving the building to go check out the blow up Willie.  When I added up the retail price it was $330 (plus tax) and I got it all for $100!

Cheer Banquet

Tonight we enjoyed the MHS cheer banquet.  The food and company was great.  This week we start all over again with tryout practices!

Nice Weekend

We didn't have anything big planned for the weekend, but ended up being busy nonetheless. Friday night we took in the KSU baseball game--we should have arrived earlier to avoid sitting on the grass.  The kids had fun, but unfortunately the Cats couldn't pull out the win.

Saturday--dinner at Famous Dave's and then hung out with friends.  Kids were TIRED!

Playdough Cookies

We made these cookies for Owen to take to school last week.  I doubled the recipe (to take some to school for para appreciation day) which is good since the first half were deformed--Miles took those to Debbie's, and the paras got doughnuts :)  They were fun to make once we got the rolling part perfected.

Some Seriously Old Shoes

I forgot to include this picture with our other Easter weekend photos.  This is Adam getting ready to take the dogs out on the four-wheeler. . . . wearing his basketball shoes from high school.  Yes, they are taped together.  Snaps to Rosie for keeping them around this long!

Easter Weekend

We went to Atwood for Easter this weekend.  The whole immediate family was there.  It was nice not to have lots of plans, lots of lounging around (except for running my 20 miles).
Josh and Emily brought their Rock Band--the kids really liked it (little kids and "big" kids).
Owen rocking out on the drums!
Owen and Raly also loved playing Mario.  They asked the Easter Bunny for the game.... maybe next year:)
Josh was the chef for dinner.
Even the dogs had a great time with Cousin Jersey!

Aunt Susan & Uncle "Q"

Quint and Susan came up on Saturday to hang out and watch the games.  The kids were very happy to have company.  Owen was excited to have Uncle "Q"  ride in the "way back" with him and Miles wanted Susan to sit with him.  Tonight when the kids were saying what made them happy, Miles said "I'm happy that Aunt Susan and Uncle Quint wen to Willie's."

Soccer Starts

Owen's soccer season has started up again.  He's playing in the developmental league instead of the micro league.  The "Rockets" won their first game and Owen had four goals.
