Trick-or-Treat Aggieville

On Friday we hit Aggieville for some trick-or-treating.  The kids had a great time and stocked up on candy, especially samples of some new Starburst product.  I think I even have about 6 of them.  Lindsay and Talon were with us; they pretty much took care of Miles :)  I wanted to let them watch some of the parade, but it took forever to start and I had to get to the game, so we missed out on that.

Reunion Weeekend

Lots of things going on this weekend, but I need to finish up my "theme" first.  It's Sunday morning, 7:30 AM and I feel like I had the longest night of sleep ever, but I'm still the only one up.  We hit Kite's at 10:00 AM to watch the game and hang out.  We were home by 10:00 PM--sounds lame, but, hey that's 12 hours!  It was so great to see everyone!

Senior Year

Lindsay and Talon are on their way to Manhattan right now, so I figured I'd better get my last "year" up to date.  I'm excited to see a bunch of friends that we haven't seen forever this weekend....

Junior Year

My "Ode to College" posts continue--here are some highlights from junior year.
We joined Mike B for the quail fry in Ark City--we got to shoot guns and (some) people tried various fried "meats."
Lindsay in one of her "hit the town outfits."  Getting ready to go out was half the fun.  That's where today's music comes from.
One of our many Woodway parties.  Fun times.
Slippers--Lindsay's rabbit.

We took a few road trips this year--this is the aftermath of our trip to the OU football game.

Sophomore Year

In keeping with my theme, here are some highlights from sophomore year--intramurals with Sharla, Ed and "Z", moving out of the dorms, always a party at the boys' place.  And, I've changed my music according to Ed's suggestion  (it needed it anyway) to include a 1995-1996 fave.  How many times did we hear this song????????
The old Purple Pig after intramurals.
Sharla and Ed, do you still have this couch???

Freshmen Year

In honor of our upcoming "college friend reunion" I thought I'd devote this week's posts to our four wonderful years at KSU.  Today--freshmen year.
Here we are after playing a flag football game in the rain.  Other than looking about 12 years old and being soaked, I'd say this one isn't so bad.  Where is Ketchum (at the mall?)
This pic, on the other hand, makes me laugh.  Look at the big flannel shirts, overalls, bad jeans... Why am I wearing a skirt?  Lindsay, show Talon your hair.  It doesn't seem like that long since we were freshmen, but when you look at the styles, you realize things have changed! Stay tuned for sophomore pics tomorrow.

Weekend

This weekend was our cheerleading fundraiser (clinic for the little girls).  The best part about the clinic was getting rid of a lot of the old uniforms I had stored in my basement.  Because of too many things going on, lack of baby-sitter, and last minute planning we didn't make it to a Halloween party and I didn't make the trek to Atwood for Emily's wedding shower.  We were bummed to miss out, but on the up side, we got TONS of stuff done around here--especially Adam.  Everything you can possibly cut down has been, all furniture has been cleaned under, all bedding washed.... I got my scanner and met Jana for dinner at Panera.  Add in the great weather and it was a pretty good weekend!
The boys enjoyed the leftover pizza from lunch.

Hats On!

We finally found a hat that is cute AND fits Owen's big head.  Bring on the cold weather!
Miles, on the other hand, prefers to wear his "big boy" underwear for a hat.  I gave in and let him wear this ensemble to Lisa's this week.  Nice.

Weekend

Friday night started with a home football game.  Owen brought a friend (who likes to tackle and wrestle as much as he does).
Beginning of the night:  Just finished a  nourishing dinner of hot dogs, nachos and Laffy Taffy ropes.
Middle of the Night:  Playing 5-year-old football on the hill while being egged on by the older kids.  Two sweaty, dirty boys!
End of the Night:  I had to lie and tell them the hill was closed for the night to get them to settle down before going home.  Unfortunately, this was the Indians' first loss.
Adam went to a class in KC Sat/Sun.  Saturday morning we made two trips to Target and one to Wal-Mart to hunt down Halloween costumes.  We also hit City Park for at least an hour, and the mall briefly, and my junk store where I picked up some great items (more to come on that later).  As for Halloween, I wanted to think of something really clever for them to be, but they like to wear these dress up suits, so what can you do?  Miles is the "evil" Spider Man and Owen is the "good" Spider Man.
Saturday night I was able to join some friends for a much deserved (aren't they always?) girls night out.  We had fun despite feeling old :)

On Sunday, we hit the park again (this time for even longer, the new toys are great), and lucky Owen got invited to go play with Cade.  Miles and I developed pictures--finally--and mowed, walked the dogs, and cleaned my car.  I'm taking advantage that we don't have students tomorrow so I can do work here instead of grading--save that for tomorrow!

Boy Shoes That REALLY ARE As Cute As Girl Shoes!

In one of my many trips to Target I found these little suede shoes for Miles.  Unfortunately Owen has graduated to kids' sizes and they didn't have this style for him too.  I love them; hopefully he will wear them instead of the ugly "crocks with socks" phase he is stuck in right now.

What To Watch...

In honor of the new season of shows, I thought I'd post our recommendations.  Not that we have a lot of time to watch TV, but DVR (what a life-changing concept) allows us to watch these whenever....even weeks later.  I usually end up watching a show when I should just go to bed. I'd love to know your favorites....
Lipstick Jungle--we (yes, Adam too) started watching this last year and now we're hooked. How can you not like a show whose main characters are named Wendy (nothing unusual there), Victory and Nico?  Wednesday nights.
The Biggest Loser--We only watch the highlights of this one, so we can be done in less than 15 minutes.  The best part is the very end when they show what the people who were voted off accomplished at home on their own.  And, as an added bonus some of my classes did linear regression with the data today.  Very interesting input from 16-year-olds.  Tuesday nights.
Grey's Anatomy--Who doesn't love Grey's?  Meredith and Derrick are together, who knows how long that will last?  Adam thinks Meredith is really ugly and Rose is much better looking....not sure about that one!  Thursday nights.
Desperate Housewives--I am still a faithful watcher; Adam has dropped it--storylines were absurd.  I'm not sure how much I like the "five years later" approach.  Did Gabby cut her hair in real life?  Sunday nights.
Extreme Home Makeover--Owen loves this show.  He doesn't yet understand that the people have overcome or are facing hardships, but he thinks it's very cool to look at the kids' bedrooms that they create.  At least he has a cool camo room!  Sunday nights.
What Not to Wear--I love Stacy and Clinton!  I wish this could be my job.  Not sure why it's on Friday nights, but I do look forward to watching it when I get home from a high school game.
Private Practice--Spin off of Grey's.  The characters are great; lots of weird medical situations. Of course, they all have crushes on eat other, etc.  Last week Dell quit; surely they'll work things out and he'll stay on.  Have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

Homecoming

This was Homecoming week at the high school.  We planned some extra stunts to perform on Friday (adding our great freshmen).  I should have taken video instead of pictures so you could see the whole sequence.  The whole night went really well.  My pictures from the 10 minute parade have a glow to them, so no pics from the afternoon.  Our Kick for Cash raffle is now up to $1000 next week since the kicker missed again this week!
Owen stayed at the game with me all night.  He spent at least two hours playing with Trey on the hill.  They played so hard that Owen actually came over and said he was tired before the game was over.  That never happens!

Boxer Lovers

I'm trying to rid my desktop of all the files I have saved.  My friend Sharla takes pictures of our dogs whenever they come to Manhattan--strange, I know.  This was actually taken by Ed (her husband); he must have been trying to capture Newman's "serious" face.  Since Owen has turned 5, Newman has become HIS dog and sleeps in his room.
