Wedding #2

We (minus Adam) spent Saturday night at another wedding--this time the kids went along.  The wedding and the KSU game were at exactly the same time, so I missed out on the first game; oh well, it was a blow out!  The kids had a great time and it was good to see family.
Owen was quite the dancer; he even had the dance floor to himself for awhile.  Here he's doing the chicken dance.
Miles, on the other hand, was more concerned about devouring his cake.
And then reaching for Owen's uneaten piece.

He Can Count!

One day last week, Miles was laying in bed with Adam and I heard them counting.  Usually Adam just counts to 3 or so and Miles echos him.  They did this and then I heard Miles (entirely on his own) go, "4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10."  He must have picked it up from all of the counting Owen has been doing--he's up to 100!  This isn't his best tape session, but, of course, Owen was talking in the background of the best "take."

Let the Weddings Begin!

So begins our series of weddings--three weddings in four weeks.  On Saturday we opted for "adults only" and the kids stayed with their recently-back-in-town baby-sitter while Adam and I and a bunch of my family attended my cousin's wedding reception.  Great food, neat decorations, fun night!  Congratulations!!!

Weekend Update

Friday night the PTO at Owen's school hosted an ice cream social/movie night.  They showed "Over the Hedge" on this huge blow up screen.  We left before the movie because it was well past Miles' bedtime and he wouldn't have sat still anyway.  They were plenty dirty from an hour's worth of time on the playground equipment.
Late Sunday afternoon we took the boys to the Old Stadium to try out Owen's new soccer shoes, but found the KSU band practicing instead.  Definitely puts you in the mood for football games!
We ended up at City Park.  We took turns playing soccer with the kids and running the dogs around the park.  Soccer--check.  Workout--check.
Monkey see, monkey do.
Getting ready to head home.

Thursday Night Fun???

To do:  GRADE PAPERS!

Another Great Shoe Deal

I bought these cute shoes for $6 for Owen at the end of the summer.  They are actually perfect for him to wear to school because their playground dust is exactly this color.  His brand new expensive tennis shoes are now this color as well!

Two Trips to Aggieville

Today was free burrito day for 383.  I have plan time around lunch so I took advantage on not having to pack a lunch.  Of course, it wasn't really free since I felt obligated to get something and take it to Adam.
Back to Aggieville after school with Owen to look for a birthday gift.  We were in Acme and Owen had to "go really bad" and I didn't think they had a bathroom so we went to Cold Stone strictly for this purpose (I already gave in and let him have a pop, so no ice cream too). Unfortunately we were the only ones there and everyone was ready to help, so I felt even more stupid for bringing him in.  After at least 10 minutes in the restroom, I figured by now someone would be in the lobby ordering and we could just walk out unnoticed.  No--still empty AND Owen spills his entire pop.  At this point I feel obligated to buy something, and settle for a gift certificate.   As I'm paying, someone says my name and I realize it's a former student I had five years ago in Omaha.  I always have a moment of confusion when I see Papio kids in Manhattan-temporary forget where I live.

Look Close!

Can you tell which feet belong to Miles?

We Survived!

After our first (half) week of school, we were ready for a weekend!  After being off all summer, it makes the days seem much longer than they really are.  My kids are great so far, Owen loves school, but the whole scheduling/transporting issue will take some time to work out.
Leaving Old Chicago.  Who wants to cook on Friday night?
Since their Dad has a bad habit of buying expensive coffee, the kids have decided they should be treated to something as well.
Miles mohawk is getting taller every day.  I'm experimenting with their hair right now.

Yes, this is a big box of gum!

Miles' room redo is nearing the end.   He has a gigantic gumball machine (something I picked up from Mike Braxmeyer a year ago) which looks very cute.  I ordered this case of gum online--850 pieces, minus the 20 or so I've had this weekend :)  I'll definitely have to tell the kids that it is broken so they don't buy and chew (or eat) the gum.  More complete room pics coming soon...

School Boy!

The big day is finally here--Owen's first day of Kindergarten!  He was very excited to go this morning, even though I was a little sad.  It will take me a while to get used to having a child in "regular" school.  So begins the life of trying to get myself to work by 7:45, Owen to school as late (or close to 8:45) as possible, Miles to daycare, and Adam to work anywhere from 7-8..... I'm not so sure it's possible to do this smoothly.  This will be a learning year for sure!
Outside his classroom.

12 Glue Sticks!!!

When I was younger I loved to shop for school supplies, so I assumed Owen would too.  I turned down the pre-packaged school supply box that his school's PTO sells (great idea) so I could take him myself (selfish on my part).  As it turns out, he loves it too.  We bought all of the goods this morning and he spent most of the day unloading and reloading his backpack.  When I looked in his bag I noticed he had opened his kleenex--great, now the teacher will think we just took some off the counter at home and threw them in the bag!  I thought it was funny that they needed 12 GLUESTICKS!!!

Go Cats!

So I ran to Target to get a sheet for Miles' bed (that's all I needed), but since I was alone I decided to make a "quick" run through the shoes...then the women's clothes, purses, home area and kids' clothes...  I found these really cute jersey type shirts available in boys and baby sizes.  I actually considered getting myself one too, but thought that bordered on psycho :)

Do I Look Smart?

These pictures were taken at Aunt Nancy's last weekend.  Miles found a couple pairs of glasses to try on while Owen was putting on his fashion show with his new school clothes.

Free Weekend???

For the first time in a long time (maybe all summer) we did not have any plans this weekend--no parties, showers, guests, trips, etc.  I know Adam was looking forward to just hanging out, but for me no plans = paint Miles' room!  More to come on that....
We made it out to Pillsbury Crossing late Sunday afternoon for a little splashing around with the kids and dogs.  Miles had a small milestone today--pooped in the toilet (don't worry there aren't any pictures of that)!
Boys at Pillsbury Crossing.  Miles carried around this piece of wood the whole time.
Doing anything in this heat wipes you out!
