Oooohhhhh!!!!

This was a basketball-filled weekend. High school game on Friday night--two wins, four over-times. Little Dribblers' practice and game on Saturday for Owen, immediately followed by the KSU vs. Missouri game at Bramlage. Adam had guys' weekend in North Carolina, so I had BB duty all to myself. We ended up taking Mason to the game with us, and all three kids were awesome! It turned into a sleepover--pretty low key considering they were out five minutes after we got home!

Baby Name

Right now the only names in the running are Jake (from Owen, must be thinking of Mandy's baby) and Lightning McQueen (from Miles, obviously).

Conference Time

Last week we hosted conferences for the high school parents, and this week we got to go hear about Owen. They don't really get A's, B's, etc. in first grade, but Owen did have a great report from his teacher. He's made lots of progress in all of the subjects and exhibits good behavior. The parent portal finally opened for elementary parents, so I'm excited to check that out. Adam promised to take him (and Miles) for ice cream as a reward (thinking that they'd be drooling for Coldstone, which happens to be his own weakness), but Owen "rock, paper, scissored" him to end up in the Dairy Queen drive through.

Happy Valentine's Day!

The boys got some heart boxers to celebrate the day--Miles thought they were great. Owen, not so much. Supposedly they "fit weird" so he couldn't wear them.
We made some sugar cookies earlier in the week using a new recipe. The kids liked them and they were easy. Today we hit Coco Bolo's for V-day lunch. Apparently lots of people had the same idea since we ran into four tables of people we knew.

Read

My friend Lindsay gave me my first award via blog. . .
1. Name an author you love.
I don't have just one--Jane Green, Jennifer Weiner, Sophie Kinsella, really anything with a cover that looks fun. Also like John Grisham, David Baldacci-type books. And the Twilight and Harry Potter series.

2. Name an author who highlights your personality.
I suppose someone who writes about shoes or shopping :)

3. Name some books you love.
Harry Potter series, Twilight series, Gone with the Wind. I pretty much like every book I read, although I've never read any book twice.

4. Something that always excites you.
Spending time with my kids/family/friends. Going OUT to eat. Having time to work out BEFORE I have to pick up the kids. Shopping. Movies at the theater. Girls nights. Clean house. Having no school work to bring home.

5. Something you hate.
Tomatoes. Sea food. Asian food.

NOW I am passing this award along. All they have to do is grab the princess award and post the questions and answers. Thanks for letting me share about my love for reading!

Math and Reading

Recently Owen celebrated the 100th day of school. He was assigned to bring 100 pretzels. We gave him the bag and let him choose the best way to go about getting 100. He came up with 10 sets of 10!
It is amazing how much the learn in 1st grade. He has become quite a reader! In his class, they can earn points by reading books and taking comprehension tests over them. Once they earn enough points, they receive a free book. He is excited to be reading chapter books.

Good-Bye, Hello!

We said good-bye to the Malibu last week (kind of spur-of-the-moment) and hello to the Traverse! This isn't actually mine in the photo, but it looks the same. I usually don't really care about what I drive, but I have to say, I love the style of this car. Silver was my first choice, white a close second. Briggs was able to find us a white one with middle bucket seats (which was my top priority), so here we are. Now I just have to focus on keeping it clean--Adam is a Nazi about clean cars! If he finds a loose cheez-it, I think it'll end in divorce :)

BIg Game for the O-Man

Owen and his team, the Magic, had their first game on Saturday. It was fun to watch them learn and play the game--downright funny at times.
Owen had a big fan base for this game since we had people in town for the KSU vs. KU game. Seriously Susan, why are you so dressed up? :) On defense they have to keep one foot in the lane at all times. You can see Owen's first Jordan's--a gift from Santa.
An in-bounds play. He did a great job and made a basket (there was an airball as well). Final score: 0-0.

Big BB Weekend!

Saturday was full of basketball--I'm sure Adam was in his element! We took the kids to Game Day since we robbed them of their tickets. Their favorite things were the State Farm roll up signs--still playing with those!
What a fun time to be a KSU student!
We spent some of Saturday afternoon with friends and family in the Legends Room in Aggieville--great place to have a come-and-go for pre-game!! (Sorry I don't know how to photoshop people out of pictures, or I'd have removed the Jayhawk :)
LOUD, PURPLE, EXCITED, NERVOUS.....
