Nashville

Sharla found cheapo flights through some promotion for Southwest so her and I, and my sister-in-law Susan spent a weekend in Nashville. Susan's sister only lives two hours away in Chatanooga, so she met up with us as well. What a great town--we've been told me we need to come back during CMA week. Sounds good to me!
We tried out the "Loveless Cafe" (because we heard it was a neat place with good food, and Susan's last name used to be Love).
We also ate at a place called "The San Antonio Taco Company." When you walked in, you filled out an order form and turned it in. Fun idea!
Of course, we spent a lot of time listening to the live music that was everywhere. If you like country music and hole-in-the-walls (like me), you can come with us next time!
Me, Sharla, Susan and Betsy. Another reason to go to Nashville: everyone thought we were way younger than we actually are. We were asked numerous times what our majors are, where we go to college, etc. Don't we look 24?
Some of the decor at one of our stops.

Before and After

Saturday was haircuts for the boys. Owen doesn't have a lot of options: short or very short. Miles was deciding between letting it grow, trim it up, or cut it off (or cut it "flat" as he calls it).
Before: front.
Before: side.
Before: back.
After!

Why I Love Valentine's Day...

Best. Candy. Ever. And I think I was the first one to buy them at Dillon's considering the guy was still cutting the boxes open.

Best Snowman in Town

I drive by this snowman twice a day (it's near Miles' daycare). Is it not the best one you've ever seen? I won't even post of picture of ours--too embarrassing.

Chef Adam

Adam has been wanting to try a recipe for beef tenderloin in my Pioneer Woman cookbook--he thought it sounded interesting because: A) it is meat, and B) you cook it in an iron skillet. Anyway, I went into HyVee and asked for a beef tenderloin and this is what I got--$68.12 worth of meat!!! I figured I was wrong and bought something crazy expensive, but when I got home and reread her intro she mentioned that this was a pricey cut of meat and this meal was best suited for a special occasion. The last Saturday of Christmas Break is special, right?
This picture is just gross, but it helps with the before and after :)
The finished product! This is actually just half of it; we froze the other half in case we messed this up. At least then we could grill the other part. It turned out just as well as PW's. Next time we'll have you over!

A Record

Midnight: sporting the skeleton hand. 7:30: Sleepwalked to living room chair ("keep the dogs off chair" still in place). 10:00: Sprawled out.
My kids NEVER sleep in, unless you consider 6:30 instead of 6:00 sleeping in, so today was a real treat for all of us!

Happy New Year!

We spent New Year's Eve at the Henry's with a few other couples and most of the kids. The kids all made it till midnight--they stopped playing long enough to come watch the ball drop and countdown to 2010. Thanks Lindsay, and sorry that you are probably still picking up toys today!
