Field Day

Today my mom and I were able to attend Owen's school field day. He had a great time (liked the races best) and we enjoyed watching all the different types of kids--some very serious, some in their own world, some needing a drink every 30 seconds, etc.

Final Soccer Game

After postponing soccer for a week due to rain, Miles finally had his last game. I'm not sure how he feels about soccer--this season his favorite part was getting dressed in soccer gear.
He is proud of the medal he "earned." As you can see, he's also into tucking his shirt in. He does this when he wears sport type clothing. . .

More Wedding Fun

Sharla and I hosted Amy's shower (at Sharla's parent's house in Lebo) on Saturday. We had a great time making fun decorations. Despite the rain, everyone had a good time and Amy got a lot of really nice things. Two more months until the big day!
Banner and flowers.
Some of the food, more flowers and our fun napkins!
Party favors.
Bachelorette party invitations--fun to make--idea stolen from a blog I can't remember.

Let the Fun Begin

This past weekend Sharla and I trekked to St. Louis for Amy's bachelorette party. We had a great time the whole weekend--lots of laughs, manicures/pedicures, food/drinks, shopping. . . Now it's onto the shower this weekend.
Pink anyone?
Waiting for more friends at the sushi bar--no, I didn't eat sushi :)
Amy and Barb working hard not to mess up their fresh nails. Thanks for a great weekend girls!

1st Birthday

Two weekends back we attended McKinley's 1st birthday party in Kansas City. Of course, she ended up with lots of new stuff, but this car was the best. Her dad bought a typical pink car and with a little "Pimp My Ride" action ended up with this cool K-State car.

Strong Men

Both boys have been enjoying working out with Adam on the weekends. They actually like lifting weights--me, not so much! I'm just dying to get back to running--not too much longer!

K-State B-ball Players

We attended the KSU Auction Friday night and managed to get a picture with some of the players. I'm sure they posed for plenty of pictures. . .

Seniors

Sunday was our end of year cheer banquet. Good-bye to a great group of seniors!

Soccer Dude

Miles is enjoying soccer much more this season (well, I guess he enjoyed last season, he just didn't pay that close of attention). He LOVES what he calls "soccer clothes" which are any plain, dry-fit type clothes and changes into something like this EVERY night upon getting home. I happened across these small soccer shoes at Payless--best $17.99 I've spent in a long time. The kid loves his "shoes with bumps."

Bugs

Even though the baby is not here yet, their "picture clothes" are ready. Bug shirts in three different sizes and styles! I like themes, as long as it's not taken too far (click HERE for some hilarious family photo shoots).

Happy Easter!

We spent a beautiful day in Council Grove. The kids should be tired (and full of sugar) tonight. And to make it even better, I didn't have to cook a single thing! Hopefully I can stick to "dishes duty" for life!
Owen and Miles with their nearly-one-year-old cousin, McKinley.
The kids found a bunch of eggs in Aunt Nancy's basement. Here, Miles is more worried that he might have poop on his finger (it wasn't).
After egg hunting, the boys checked out Wyatt's basketball "museum." Owen came home with a bunch of basketball cards from the 90's. He thinks these are pretty great. Happy Easter everyone!

Hunting "Eggs"

Mike and Connie invited the boys out on Sunday to hunt "eggs" (aka golf balls that have strayed off of Colbert). They had a great time searching for them, particularly the Nike ones for whatever reason. They washed them up and brought home about half of what they found. Owen organized most of them in his locker. The boys also got to enjoy a meal out with Mike, Connie and Brandi--without Mom and Dad, which they think is cool. Thanks Butlers!

Chefs

On Sunday we checked out "The Chef." Neat atmosphere and good food. The kids got chefs hats to decorate while they waited. Miles has a bunch of random stuff on his (a lake he said) and of course, Owen has something K-State--this time a rainbow striped powercat. I'm not sure why they can't pose without throwing out some sign...

Too Tired

This little wildcat wasn't able to hang on for the last minutes of the KSU game. It would have been fun to see the games live in OKC, but it was nice to have a weekend with all of us home and nothing much going on. Back to real life tomorrow :(

Beautiful Day

Finally a great day for being outside. The boys had Grant over (for lots of basketball) and we ended the day at the park, meeting up with some friends for a good two hours of swinging, sliding, climbing, CHASING, CHASING, CHASING... So glad to be outside WITH the sun shining!
Two monkeys!
Not sure???
He's big enough to hop off and slide down the pole now.

Atwood Weekend

We (kids, dogs, and me--Adam was at his last class) hit I-70 on Friday and trekked out to Atwood to hang out with all of my in-laws. The kids had a great time with their cousins--such a great time that they pretty much did their own thing all weekend and I didn't get any pictures!
Newman enjoyed the extremely nice weather on Saturday.
As did Edie...
Miles spent some time in the tent--one of the hundreds of toys they trashed the house with.
Owen and Raly made these (disgusting) desserts from all the old candy plus some new peeps Rosie had in her stash. Raly was actually prepared to eat this combo of smarties, frosting, peeps, laffy taffy, cookie decorating balls, and trident gum!

3 Wishes

Owen brought home a paper from childcare today with his three wishes on it: a baby, super powers, and 1000 pieces of candy. I asked him what super power he'd like to have...he said the power to make lightning. Hmmm.

Little Blue Devils

Adam has always been a big Duke fan, and was able to go to North Carolina this past weekend to watch the North Carolina vs. Wake Forest game. He told Owen he'd try to find him a jersey, so of course, Owen had his heart set on it. Luckily he found one for each of them. They LOVE jerseys!

Oooohhhhh!!!!

This was a basketball-filled weekend. High school game on Friday night--two wins, four over-times. Little Dribblers' practice and game on Saturday for Owen, immediately followed by the KSU vs. Missouri game at Bramlage. Adam had guys' weekend in North Carolina, so I had BB duty all to myself. We ended up taking Mason to the game with us, and all three kids were awesome! It turned into a sleepover--pretty low key considering they were out five minutes after we got home!

Baby Name

Right now the only names in the running are Jake (from Owen, must be thinking of Mandy's baby) and Lightning McQueen (from Miles, obviously).

#3

Coming soon... boy #3! Do you think they make matching clothes that span 7 years?

Conference Time

Last week we hosted conferences for the high school parents, and this week we got to go hear about Owen. They don't really get A's, B's, etc. in first grade, but Owen did have a great report from his teacher. He's made lots of progress in all of the subjects and exhibits good behavior. The parent portal finally opened for elementary parents, so I'm excited to check that out. Adam promised to take him (and Miles) for ice cream as a reward (thinking that they'd be drooling for Coldstone, which happens to be his own weakness), but Owen "rock, paper, scissored" him to end up in the Dairy Queen drive through.

Happy Valentine's Day!

The boys got some heart boxers to celebrate the day--Miles thought they were great. Owen, not so much. Supposedly they "fit weird" so he couldn't wear them.
We made some sugar cookies earlier in the week using a new recipe. The kids liked them and they were easy. Today we hit Coco Bolo's for V-day lunch. Apparently lots of people had the same idea since we ran into four tables of people we knew.

Read

My friend Lindsay gave me my first award via blog. . .
1. Name an author you love.
I don't have just one--Jane Green, Jennifer Weiner, Sophie Kinsella, really anything with a cover that looks fun. Also like John Grisham, David Baldacci-type books. And the Twilight and Harry Potter series.

2. Name an author who highlights your personality.
I suppose someone who writes about shoes or shopping :)

3. Name some books you love.
Harry Potter series, Twilight series, Gone with the Wind. I pretty much like every book I read, although I've never read any book twice.

4. Something that always excites you.
Spending time with my kids/family/friends. Going OUT to eat. Having time to work out BEFORE I have to pick up the kids. Shopping. Movies at the theater. Girls nights. Clean house. Having no school work to bring home.

5. Something you hate.
Tomatoes. Sea food. Asian food.

NOW I am passing this award along. All they have to do is grab the princess award and post the questions and answers. Thanks for letting me share about my love for reading!

Math and Reading

Recently Owen celebrated the 100th day of school. He was assigned to bring 100 pretzels. We gave him the bag and let him choose the best way to go about getting 100. He came up with 10 sets of 10!
It is amazing how much the learn in 1st grade. He has become quite a reader! In his class, they can earn points by reading books and taking comprehension tests over them. Once they earn enough points, they receive a free book. He is excited to be reading chapter books.

Good-Bye, Hello!

We said good-bye to the Malibu last week (kind of spur-of-the-moment) and hello to the Traverse! This isn't actually mine in the photo, but it looks the same. I usually don't really care about what I drive, but I have to say, I love the style of this car. Silver was my first choice, white a close second. Briggs was able to find us a white one with middle bucket seats (which was my top priority), so here we are. Now I just have to focus on keeping it clean--Adam is a Nazi about clean cars! If he finds a loose cheez-it, I think it'll end in divorce :)

BIg Game for the O-Man

Owen and his team, the Magic, had their first game on Saturday. It was fun to watch them learn and play the game--downright funny at times.
Owen had a big fan base for this game since we had people in town for the KSU vs. KU game. Seriously Susan, why are you so dressed up? :) On defense they have to keep one foot in the lane at all times. You can see Owen's first Jordan's--a gift from Santa.
An in-bounds play. He did a great job and made a basket (there was an airball as well). Final score: 0-0.

Big BB Weekend!

Saturday was full of basketball--I'm sure Adam was in his element! We took the kids to Game Day since we robbed them of their tickets. Their favorite things were the State Farm roll up signs--still playing with those!
What a fun time to be a KSU student!
We spent some of Saturday afternoon with friends and family in the Legends Room in Aggieville--great place to have a come-and-go for pre-game!! (Sorry I don't know how to photoshop people out of pictures, or I'd have removed the Jayhawk :)
LOUD, PURPLE, EXCITED, NERVOUS.....
