Shoe Addict

On Friday I took the kids shopping in Topeka for some new shorts (for them), swimsuit (for me) and shoes/pants (for Adam). We went on to Lebo to hit the famous Evans' garage sale where I bought NINE pairs of cute shoes for myself!!! If you count the pair I bought in Topeka, it's an even ten!! Now, how about some new outfits for these?

Go Rangers!

Owen's T-ball team had their first game this week. It was a beautiful night to be out. According to the kids it was a tie--I have a feeling they will all be ties. He is having a lot of fun playing. I am posting his game schedule on the side of the blog since several of you have asked about coming to a game.
The Rangers' bench.
Getting ready to bat for the first time.
He gets a hit!

What Happened to the Pool Weather?

I start my two week class next week, so I was hoping for better pool weather this week. It was cold yesterday, and looks like it may be that way again today--we'll see. The kids are really enjoying the pool. Miles is getting braver everyday and Owen is very comfortable in the water this year. He's on the left side with the blue goggles in this picture.

Happy 60th Aunt Nancy

Saturday night we went to a surprise birthday party for my Aunt Nancy and her good friend Karen (both turned 60 in May). Both were genuinely surprised! Lots of fun!
Our family sang for Nancy (no pic of that), but here is the Lee family doing their thing for their own birthday girl Karen. I think they "won"--the boys up front were good!

T-ball Action

Owen's team has been practicing for their first T-ball game (later this week). Mostly Adam has taken him, but I did get to go to one practice. I'm anxious to see them play a game. As in soccer, we are lucky to have a great coach--Coach Pat. So far he's loving T-ball.

Yard Before and After

The south end of our backyard has been neglected for a long time (long before we moved here). This summer we are fixing it--well not really us personally, but we are paying for it, so I'll say it's us. It will take work to keep the dogs off, right?
Before and after. . .

Cheer Camp

We just finished with our two FULL days of cheer camp. It went really went--we will have very talented squads this year. Luckily the kids were able to go to Debbie's so they didn't have to tag along. There are some boys Owen's age going to Debbie's this summer, so he had fun being there the past couple of days.

School's Out For Summer

Owen's last day of school (and mine too--yay!) was on Friday (and Happy Birthday Sharla). Here he is, with little brother, before school when he was still a kindergartener.
And now, here's the first grader. He had a FABULOUS year with Mrs. Fisher. I can't believe how much he learned and changed. Great teacher!Last day with the childcare program--also a wonderful opportunity for Owen. He loved the teachers and had lots of friends in the program. He came home everyday with art and a red face from lots of running and playing! They played water games the last day.
Summer time--yay!

Final Soccer Night

Owen's team had their last game Wed. night. He was lucky to have a great coach who really worked with the team. All of the boys on his team really improved and seemed to have a lot of fun. He was excited to get his second medal (remembered getting one last year).
I love this picture of Owen and Mason. They look like they are having a blast!
Meanwhile, Miles was having fun with his lady friends. Amazing how a few tubes of lip gloss and chapstick can be so entertaining.

Field Day Fun

I took "personal" time from my afternoon classes to attend Owen's field day. It was a little windy, but otherwise a beautiful day. The afternoon was very organized and all of the kids seemed to have a great time. It was so cute to hear them cheer for classmates. They got ribbons for all events that they completed. Here's a summary of the day...
The kids were supposed to sit on the sidelines and watch/cheer.
Event #1: 35 yard dash!

Event #2: Sack race (has this event been around forever?)

Event #3: The long race--50 yards!

Event #4: Tractor race--this is what the kids were most excited about. To me it looked like a simulation of a hamster in a wheel. They were all over the place.

Final Event: 3-legged race! Owen and his friend were great--he must take after me (I'm pretty sure Sharla and I won this event EVERY year at Play Day).

I Love It...

. . . my new straightner that is! It makes my hair feel just like it does when Brooke flat irons it at the salon! I should have bought this one long ago--I could have skipped the 4-5 I've bought from Target over the years. What an investment this is :)

Little Swimmer

Owen took swimming lessons through UFM this spring. He enjoyed the class and showed a lot of improvement. He passed his level--and thinks he's ready to swim on his own....not exactly! Below he's floating on his back--it looks like his teacher is helping him, but she actually is not holding on. All that practice in the bathtub must have paid off!
His RED belly after doing a belly buster off the board!

Glad That Weekend Is Over!

We were really looking forward to this past weekend--my Mom was coming up to help us with the kids during our garage sale, we were going to play flag football and go out, do something fun for Mother's Day, get Owen a basketball goal. . . It didn't quite end up that way. On Friday night I drove to Home Depot with Adam's keys, phone and wallet on the back of my car--lost all of that! Found the phone later--was in a case, so that was good. Ended up cancelling the debit and credit cards. Actually FOUND the wallet and keys the next morning on the ramp to Seth Child's (guess I should have looked farther when I drove off and lost my own phone off my car two years ago). In the meantime, Adam gets SICK all day Saturday (thank goodness Mom was here since the kids and a garage sale don't mix. Cancelled Saturday plans, then I don't feel well from Saturday night on. Sunday was spent sleeping the whole day while the kids watch movies, nap and draw. At least we got over all the /bad luck in one weekend!
The garage sale was successful--so cleansing to get rid of stuff! Did I mention that I dropped a dresser drawer on my foot? Sorry, no pictures of anything, Adam is cussing away at my computer where all of my pics are--I don't dare ask to interrupt whatever he's doing :)

Good Movie

I saw "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" this weekend.  Thanks to DVR, I only saw the preview for it two days before it opened.  We (girlfriends, not the family :) all liked it.  And the $10 popcorn was worth it!  This is the third movie I've seen since moving to Manhattan, which means I'm averaging one per year--sad.  Michelle and the Papio movie group--you should be ashamed of me.  Maybe this summer. . . I did see lots of good previews!

My First Marathon

I ran my first marathon on Sunday in Oklahoma City.  I've been strictly following a training schedule since the beginning of January and I was a little nervous about how it would go. Despite very WINDY and warm conditions, I finished it in much less time than I thought I would.  It was a great experience--the course was neat with lots of people cheering.  Now that it's over, I feel like I've lost my job or something because I don't have a big chunk of time taken up with runs. I thought I'd be so relieved to be done, but it's such a good feeling to be in great shape and I have to wonder if I'd be faster next time . . . we'll see!
Finish line!
I'm the third one back.
Notice I am passing a guy!
The kids thought my medal was cool.
Think Adam would run one with me??  Ha.

OKC Trip

Adam and I took the kids to Oklahoma City for my marathon this past weekend.  It was nice to go away for the weekend with the kids.  I can't remember the last time we went anywhere as a family that wasn't for a wedding/party/holiday/etc.  It seemed like we were a lot further from Manhattan than we really were.
Here we come!
The kids outside the Memorial Museum.
The hotel pool was sooo cold, so we settled for swimming in the hot tub.  The jets weren't working so it was just right for swimming.

The 168 chairs that symbolize the lives lost in the bombing.  The structure in the back is the base of he old federal building.
The kids enjoyed hanging out in the hotel.  A little Sonic and a movie, what could be better?

Pet Peek

Katie Harvey, our baby-sitter and soon-to-be KSU vet student has started her own pet-sitting business.  When we were in Oklahoma this weekend she stayed with Edie and Newman.  She has a blog set up for owners to see what is going on with their "fur" children while they are gone.  We measure how good the dogs' weekends are by how tired they are on Sunday night and Monday, and they are out of it!  If you need a pet sitter in Manhattan (or Omaha this summer), call Katie!

KSU Goods

My friend Jenn brought me to the "friends and family" sale at GTM.  Apparently they were way over-stocked or something, because they were selling all of the good Nike stuff--CHEAP!  $50 Nike pants for $10.  If I'd had more time to think or call people, I'd have bought more; not to mention Miles kept leaving the building to go check out the blow up Willie.  When I added up the retail price it was $330 (plus tax) and I got it all for $100!

Cheer Banquet

Tonight we enjoyed the MHS cheer banquet.  The food and company was great.  This week we start all over again with tryout practices!
